What are Silent Movies?? Silent Movies are movies with no dialogue or sound and were most popular in the 1920s. when technology was developed. The dialogue and acting is translated through gestures, title cards, and pantomimes instead of speaking. Usually, silent films had live music or an orchestra playing a classical piece or an improvised piece protraying to the movie. Silent movies also added sound effects to bring the movie more alive and actors had to express facial expressions and body language to express themselves. SIlent Films are usually at a normal speed or slightly faster than average speed.

Famous Silent Movies: The Gold Rush (1925) The Jazz Singer (1927) The Crowd (1928) There were many, but these were the most famous.
